Bridging Artistry and Technology in Fashion Design

Gary’s fervor for pioneering technical innovations and shaping spatial landscapes is rooted in his profound social consciousness. His commitment to effecting positive change and his genuine empathy contribute to his determination to better the world we inhabit. Born in 1971 in Paramaribo, Gary’s journey began, and he later pursued studies in mechanical engineering in Surinam.
In 1998, he embarked on a transformative voyage to the Netherlands to nurture and refine his talents. Along the way, he lent his creative prowess to notable establishments like Moooi Boutique, Adlicious, Refinity, restaurant Bridges, and the collaborations with visionaries such as Marcel Wanders and Kathryn Milan.
Interweaving his personal collections into his journey, Gary Symor showcases his affinity for ecologically sound and sustainable materials and techniques. His astute eye for the human form, his forward-looking perspective, and his unwavering commitment to ethical principles stand as hallmarks of his design prowess and his very essence.

Beyond his creative endeavors, Gary is a true advocate of education, a passion that courses through his veins like fashion-drenched blood. Presently, he’s at the helm of developing a pattern-cutting university, poised to train #smarthands in approaching the fashion industry through a lens of sustainability and innovation. This pioneering university, set to launch its maiden voyage in February 2024, will debut with an intimate class of 7 students, encompassing a boutique-style approach. The program, situated in The Hague, will also foster collaboration with Paris’ oldest pattern-cutting institute, promising to reshape the future of fashion education.
