&LadyMondegreen

Biography
Natalie Tönnis has solid training in women’s tailoring and pattern making in Germany. Over the years, she worked in various positions in the fashion industry, such as sample collections and made-to-order pieces. She also worked as model for several international fashion companies.
Natalie gained a great deal of experience in costume production through working for Broadway & Las Vegas shows as well as the San Francisco Ballet and various local theatre companies while living in the US.
The importance of a sustainable lifestyle already played a huge role in Natalie’s life as a young woman. Over time, it became clear to her that instead of adding more new clothes to an already saturated market, she would follow her calling to save what already existed, making it her goal to never sacrifice style for the sake of being green.

Starting off with a mostly refined second hand clothing business in California, she quickly noticed that the aspect of creativity was missing. Upon her move back to Germany, Natalie founded the upcycling label &LadyMondegreen. The combination of her perfect craftsmanship skills and her infinite creativity make her a rare find amongst designers. With passion and love for detail and precision, Natalie creates unique and innovative pieces that honor the original garment and the story that lives within it.

Anne-Catherine Girard

Biography
Anne-Catherine is bringing us some French Flair with a touch of British Eccentricity

Coming from Provence, this part of France, where Marcel Pagnol, van Gogh, Manet, Picasso, or Cézanne were inspired too!
I have in common the love of colors and fragrances surrounding my life in this
countryside, which is now involved in my creations.

After studying history/geography at university in Lyon, I spent a year in experiencing volunteer work and life with down-syndrome persons, which is also inspiring me in the ethic of my business today, and the place of disabled in my surrounding and workshop.

My late vocation for fashion came at 25. I started a new study: fashion design in a private school in London.

Then I directly entered the workshop of Geeves&Hawkes at Savile Row, learning the secret of a perfect ”savoir-faire” where I hand-made suits for Prince Charles, the Sultan of Bruneï, the king of Thaïland and many other wealthy people who gave me the opportunity to make suits by dozen… or simply participate by hand-making my 1st royal wedding dress for: Sophie Countess Wessex, Prince’s Edwards wife!

After a rich experience in haute-couture made in Britain, I went back to France and worked as Collection Director for women’s sportswear… this contrast influenced me to bring a glamorous touch in the daywear, which is now the main line in my collections.

Since 2005, I’ve launched my own brand in the historical Place du Grand Sablon in Brussels.

My collections bring a French touch with a British twist to transform ordinary life into extraordinary events, which makes every women: unique!

Solicitor in international public law for fifteen years, I changed career completely, after becoming aware of the way society was going.

Having had a good artistic background (from my Scandinavian family and a few years studying fine arts) and a Belgian talent coach, Wim Adriaenssens, I embarked on the conceptualisation of my first creations.

We work with local distribution networks. We design and produce each creation in our small Atelier in Belgium. Each creation is numbered and produced in small quantities. We only choose high-quality materials produced in Europe and preferably organic. We are also developing a recycling system, restyling vintage clothing or workwear.

We produce two collections a year, favouring ‘slow fashion’.

Rafael Dorian

Biography
The brand Rafael Dorian was born following his studies in Fashion Modeling and training in ‘Haute Couture’.

His deeply seated passion for art has always been omnipresent since his childhood.

Over the years, this passion has become more specifically geared towards fashion, the art of pencil drawing, the silhouette, scissors and cutting … and finally creation in its purest form.
At the beginning, he only created evening dresses and cocktail dresses, but following a return to his roots, and his first participation in the “Caftan” event in Morocco, Rafael Dorian has become increasingly specialized in Caftan and in traditional outfits.

Born in Brussels of Maroccan and Andalusian decent, Rafael fell in love with gold, lace, the richness of certain colors, the sobriety and elegance of others and a fusion of Belgian and European style.

“I am inspired by time, eras to create and renew. Using pure materials such as silk, lace, velvet, I combine them with different materials according to my inspirations.”
“I love the caftan, the heritage of the art of Moroccan embroidery.”
